ROSEWOOD BOTTLE TREE TRANSPLANT for Ipswich City Council.

16-17TH September, 2015

The Tree Doctor relocates a Narrow Leaved Bottle Tree (Brachychiton rupestris) from John St, Rosewood into the Cobb and Co Heritage Park.

Relocating any tree can be tricky but throw in a thunder storm with spectacular lightning, heavy rain and hail as well as the 15.5 ton tree and you might think it is impossible.

However, as the images tell the story, the tree was successfully relocated.

After cutting around the root ball and securing the crown of the tree it was gently lifted by the crane and swung onto the bed of the waiting truck. It only had to make a short journey around the corner. After another careful lift using the crane, the tree was finally placed in its new home. A little bit of time was taken to ensure the tree was placed in the right position and it was finally bedded next to the old jail.

The Queensland Bottle Tree (Brachychiton rupestris) located at 33 John St was shifted to Rosewood's Cobb and Co Heritage Park. The team worked at night during a storm and got the job done under flood light.
